Opened in June of 2014, the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA started a new chapter in the history of the San Francisco 49ers.  The $1.3 billion stadium is unlike any other stadium built in the NFL.  Fans are able to see every electrifying play on the field on the massive 48 feet high by 20 feet wide video/scoreboard above the seats in each end zone.

The Levi’s Stadium was commissioned before I stepped into the 49ers organization, but I was familiar with Telemetrics camera control systems from the Lincoln Field Stadium in Philadelphia, PA since they utilized the same controller for their PTZs.  Once I was introduced to the RCCP-1 I immediately appreciated its power and simplicity.

The stadium maintains Sony switchers, 4k cameras for the broadcast, and the PTZ outdoors is supported with a “Cannon” camera. The three indoor cameras are located in the Post-Game Press area, the Team Tunnel for team introductions, and the Scoreboard control room for our “Thanksgiving Day shot”.    Levi’s wanted a solution that played well with other cameras, and Telemetrics RCCP-1 was versatile enough to integrate well with both our Sony and Panasonic cameras.

Levi has added a couple of Canon cameras since the original build.  With the purchase of an additional device, you are always concerned if things will go smoothly when the controller goes to take the new settings. I was quite pleased with the transition. I’m sure easy integration was a decisive factor in choosing a Telemetrics solution.

The RCCP-1 provides a touch screen user interface laid out for the unique needs of producing game day video.    The universal production control is unified into a simple touch screen interface allowing a clean, appealing network quality production created by a single operator.   What I liked about the Telemetrics controller, was they also controlled the camera CCU; that when you call up a shot, I could also control the paint of the camera. Everything on the camera was controlled by the Telemetrics RCCP-1.  It’s an intuitive and easy to use controller for live day production.

Telemetrics is a small organization with a large footprint, and it is one that I was totally impressed with and will continue to support.   I have been extremely pleased with Telemetrics technical support and overall customer service which is essential for live venue production.  With the help of Telemetrics RCCP-1, the San Francisco 49ers is guaranteed to offer their fans visually stimulating live coverage at every game.
