Servo-Controlled Robotic Camera Ensures Realistic-Looking AR Affects In Both Field and Studio Enviroments.
Allendale, NJ — Telemetrics, a leader in camera robotics and control systems, has partnered with 3D graphics software veteran Vizrt to offer customers a pre-certified solution for creating and generating live Augmented Reality (AR) graphics in a studio or in the field that are supported by Telemetrics’ proven robotic servo-controlled pan/tilt camera heads and tracking software.
At the NAB New York Show (Booth N327), the two companies will spotlight a live demonstration of Telemetrics’ robotic systems acquiring live images that are fed into Vizrt’s Viz Engine. The same Viz Engine will be shown running Vizrt’s Viz Virtual Studio software including Tracking Hub to create a “Virtual Studio in Box”, which relies on ultra-smooth camera tracking moves to ensure a realistic AR affect.
“Together with Vizrt, we’re offering an easy to use AR solution that can enhance a wide variety of live and studio productions and increase viewer retention (and ratings),” said Anthony Cuomo, president of Telemetrics. “Our goal is to make what was once a complex process simple to deploy for our robotic camera customers.”
Viz Engine seamlessly performs data acquisition and processing functions. When paired with a Telemetrics PT-LP-S5 servo-controlled PTZ camera head, the render engine is enhanced with the smoothest and most accurate robotic positioning available to broadcasters today. The PT-LP-S5 virtual encoder has a resolution of 5.62 million counts per 360° of movement, which translates to a positioning accuracy of 0.00045 degrees on all axis.
“While we are seeing the use of both Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality graphics increase, the best results come from accurate camera tracking systems, there can be no compromise,” said Gerhard Lang, Chief Engineering Officer at Vizrt. “Telemetrics’ robotic camera systems are ideally suited to the high-quality graphics systems we provide at Vizrt. Together we have created a tightly integrated solution that is easy to use and provides the most captivating images each and every time.”
The Telemetrics-Vizrt partnership will continue to provide new solutions that leverage Telemetrics servo-controlled PTZ camera heads and other robotic products such as the EP7 Televator® and TG4 Teleglide® track system. At the recent IBC Show, Telemetrics introduced the PT-HP-S5 as the latest addition to the company’s 5th generation S5 camera control product portfolio.
The PT-HP-S5 supports a variety of camera lenses and a small teleprompter, and features the ability to launch an unlimited number of pre-sets. It also provides extremely quiet and fast operation (up to 100 degrees/second). When coupled with the Telemetrics RCCP-1 or RCCP-1A, a single remote operator can perform a full range of creative camera moves, including control over axis pan, tilt, zoom, focus, elevation and trolley functions.
