Katowice, Poland, Jan 2023 – A comprehensive roster of RTS intercom systems was called into action to ensure the opening and closing ceremonies of the recent World Urban Forum could be broadcast seamlessly to a global audience. Krakow-based production company 2Vision was contracted by Brill AV Media to take responsibility for the broadcast signal.
Held every two years, the World Urban Forum is a prestigious international conference, organized by the United Nations Human Settlement Programme (UN-Habitat) for urban growth and human settlements. It is regarded as the most important global event concerning municipal policies, transformation and development. As such, it regularly attracts over 20,000 participants representing governments, regions, cities, non-governmental organizations and financial institutions.
The eleventh edition of the conference was held with the theme of transforming cities for a better urban future. Following five days of debate, the declared actions of the conference were announced at the closing ceremony with the 2Vision team and its RTS intercom systems ensuring a flawless production from the broadcast team.
"We were responsible for producing the TV signal and coverage from the main stage of the World Urban Forum 2022, and signal was broadcast by the biggest Polish and global TV stations," recalls Grzegorz Jakubowski, CEO of 2Vision. "To produce such an event, all crew need to be synchronized so good and clear communication is crucial. We use RTS equipment, and it was perfect for coordinating stage managers, directors, vision mixers and all the TV crew and audio/light departments. RTS never lets us down."
A 16-port ODIN OMNEO digital intercom matrix formed the heart of the communication system. KP-Series keypanels were also in use, with DKP-4016 and DKP-3016 desktop units joining the KP-3016 1RU model. Completing the setup was a ROAMEO DECT-based wireless intercom system with TR-1800 beltpacks and their complementary AP-1800 access points to ensure that all communications would be crystal clear.
Producing such professional and multinational event with coverage from the opening and closing ceremonies as well as the main panels, 2Vision needed to synchronize every member of the production team and provide them with a clear way to communicate with each other without disturbing other team members. The RTS equipment played a crucial role in ensuring that everything went to plan, with the ability to colorize groups of buttons on the keypanels a particularly important feature.
Reflecting on a successful production, Jakubowski is very satisfied with how the event went and is certain that the RTS intercom system played a vital role. "We are proud that our clients trust us with productions like this one, where the signal produced during the event is broadcast around the globe. Thanks to our skill, knowledge and equipment, they can always feel safe about the result."
