The Model EX-HDU is a HDMI, AUDIO and USB Extension consisting of an EX-HDU-WP transmitter wallplate and an EX-HDU-R receiver. These connect using standard CAT5e/6 UTP cabling up to 150 feet (50 Meters).

The front of the Model EX-HDU-WP wallplate has (1) HDMI input, (1) USB Host connection and (2) USB Hub connections. On the rear of the Model EX-HDU-WP wallplate has (1) Terminal strip with 12 vDC Power and SPDIF audio connections and an RJ45 connection to the Model EX-HDU-R.

The Model EX-HDU-R has (1) HDMI output, (1) 3.5mm line-level stereo audio output, (4) USB Hub connections, (1) 3.5mm IR output, (1) Terminal strip with RS-232 and (4) I/O connections, ETHERNET for internal webpage (if installed) and USB port for configuration.

The Model EX-HDU-R can control other devices via RS-232. Typically, a TV or video projector connected to the EX-HDU-R HDMI output connector. The EX-HDU-R has the ability to store user-defined commands for controlling devices by RS-232. Optionally, these commands are output based on receiving video or from changes on the I/O terminal strip.

In Auto Mode, the unit can send pre-programmed “ON” commands, when video is received at the HDMI input, and when no video is received, it will send the pre-programmed “OFF” commands after a predefined delay.

Normally the RS-232 terminals on the unit are acting as the “master” issuing commands to external devices, but the unit can also be controlled serially. See Section 5 of the Manual for details on the available commands.

Commands can also be triggered by webpage actions, telnet commands or I/O terminal strip changes. Use the USB port on the front panel to configure the device operation via a free Windows™ GUI
