Christie Displays Striking Visuals at Expo 2010 Information and Communications Pavilion
Posted on Friday, November 5, 2010

SHANGHAI – (November 5, 2010) – A future where telecommunications touches lives at every turn was presented at China Mobile and China Telecom’s “Information and Communications Pavilion” at Expo 2010 with the aid of Christie® technology. Renowned for its award-winning design and production, BRC Imagination Arts selected Christie projection technologies to develop the world's first “Multi-Dimensional Interactive Network Pavilion,” combining state-of-the-art immersive digital media with interactive wireless network technologies and 4D special effects.

Using five sets of stacked Christie DS+6K-M 3-chip DLP® projectors, BRC created an animated “Living Dream Mural” presentation on a 26m long curved screen. For the “Dream Big Multi-Dimensional Interactive Network Theater,” four sets of stacked Christie HD10K-M 3-chip DLP projectors displayed immersive imagery on the 22m x 11m main screen. Achieving a 260-degree surround effect in the Multi-Dimensional Theater were 32 wraparound immersion screens receiving imagery from four sets of stacked Christie LX1500 digital projectors.

The most compact in its class, the Christie DS+6K-M provides 1400 x 1050 native resolution and up to 10,000:1 contrast ratio for crisp, clean images. At 6,300 ANSI lumens, the Christie DS+6K-M presents peak efficiency and low cost of ownership by drawing on a maximum power of 870 watts.

“The Christie DS+6K-M delivered brightness, versatility, reliability and affordability in providing display solutions at the Information and Communications Pavilion, which allowed visitors to be immersed in dynamic media environments and engage one-on-one with the shows and exhibits. It was mass customization applied to experience design,” said Christian Lachel, creative director of the pavilion and vice-president, BRC Imagination Arts.

“The deciding factors for choosing Christie were its world-renowned high performance products coupled with its superior service. The image quality and effect were truly wonderful.”

The Christie HD10K-M provides 10,000 ANSI lumens, up to 10,000:1 variable contrast ratio, 1920 x 1080 native resolution, dual mercury lamp brightness and the smallest chassis in its class. With 15,000 ANSI lumens and 10-bit image processing, the Christie LX1500 is designed for premium performance applications including rental staging and mid-sized auditoriums.

“We were delighted to support BRC with our latest display technology that showcased the many technological facets of China Mobile and China Telecom’s services,” commented Lin Yu, vice president, Christie Asia Pacific. “At Christie, our innovations are driven by a consistent focus on ensuring exceptional image quality so the showcase can entertain, engage and embrace the visitor through visual communication.”
