PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, October 26, 2011 —Black Box Corporation (NASDAQ:BBOX), a leading communications system integrator dedicated to designing, sourcing, implementing, and maintaining today’s complex communications solutions, announced that Veri-NAC™, its network access control appliance, has received the highest rating from SC Magazine.
Veri-NAC earned five stars indicating “Outstanding in all respects—an ‘A’ on the product’s report card,” based on areview in six categories: features, ease of use, performance, documentation, support, and value for money, as well as an overall rating. Five stars is the highest rating a product can receive. The review staff was particularly impressed with the Veri-NAC product price point and its ease of use. The magazine’s reviews are highly regarded in the security industry because they are so rigorous and involve two sets of tests. The first involves approximately 50 individual criteria. The second set uses standards based on the Common Criteria (ISO 1548). More information on the testing process can be found on-line.
Veri-NAC features an agentless design that simplifies installation, requiring no expensive network upgrades to implement NAC. Streamlined installation plus ease of use mean that even organizations with a limited IT staff can easily add Veri-NAC to their network security plan without straining resources. The unit’s simplified architecture dramatically reduces the cost of network access control.
“We are proud that SC Magazine recognized Veri-NAC with five stars,” said Keith Ross, Networking Global Product Manager for Black Box. “This review validates our belief that Veri-NAC offers the best combination of value and performance in the NAC marketplace today. Security is a top-of-mind concern for IT professionals. Veri-NAC offers them a simple, inexpensive way to implement a network security solution and prevent network breaches.”
