Green Gallery: ADI and APC

The reasons that distributor ADI chooses on its Web site to delineate supplier partners as committed as it is to a 'green mission' are simple: interest and demand.

"We are seeing more customers asking about the availability of green solutions, especially in terms of demonstrating their commitment to energy-efficient practices," says Scott Sturgess, director of product marketing for Intrusion & Fire Products at ADI. "Recently, a security dealer asked if they could highlight our green vendors in a presentation to architects, to show how their company is focused on supporting federal mandates to comply with green policies."

Companies like power power-management-solutions supplier APC, whose products are carried by ADI, fit snugly into this green niche. APC's S20BLK A/V Power Conditioner w/ Battery Backup for example, is outfitted with a built-in Web server, as RS-232 port and an environmental monitor, which makes it possible for an installer to avoid unnecessary truck rolls through remote management and troubleshooting of the components hooked up to it.

"APC together with ADI, is focused on offering customers the most comprehensive suite of green products and services available," says Scott Beckmann, APC's director of consumer business. "We are both committed to employing eco-friendly products so customers receive the utmost in energy efficiency and reliability."
