For nearly three decades, Modern System Concepts has been a trusted name in Houston’s systems integration industry. At the center of that success story is D-Tools System Integrator (SI), a software platform that has grown alongside the business. 

“Ironically, we’ve been using D-Tools for 28 years… the same amount of time we’ve been in business,” says Mark Popkowski, owner of Modern System Concepts. “I found a really good product that I thought could grow with my company. Among the many capabilities of D-Tools SI, one feature stands out for Popkowski: the integration with AutoCAD and Visio.  

“You can create your products, then drag these into the drawings while you’re building your proposal. You’re doing both at the same time, which saves an incredible amount of time.” 

Popkowski also credits D-Tools’ continuous innovation and support for helping his company stay competitive. “It continues to evolve as the industry evolves,” he says.

One of the biggest game-changers for his business has been the ability to clone and template projects.  

“I designed a very involved fire system that took me eight hours. Because of D-Tools, my salespeople can now duplicate that project in 15 minutes. That’s an incredible return on time,” he says.
