Mason Public Utility District No. 3 (Mason PUD 3), the consumer-owned electric provider serving Shelton, Belfair, and surrounding areas in Mason County, Washington, recognized a critical need to modernize and unify its audiovisual infrastructure.
Completed at the end of 2023 under the Washington State DES Master Contract No. 03418, this AV integration project upgraded two key multifunction meeting rooms to support in-person gatherings, virtual conferencing, and hybrid collaboration.
Project Overview
Mason PUD 3’s original AV installation was outdated and unreliable, and efforts to secure support from the previous integrator proved unsuccessful. With large public-agency meetings and board sessions on the line, the district needed an AV overhaul that would be easy for staff and residents alike to operate.
Avidex brought this vision to life by implementing partner technology from Q-SYS, Panasonic, and Visionary Network Audio Video.
Challenge: Aging AV Systems Impeding Collaboration
Prior to 2023, both Johns Prairie and Skookum meeting rooms relied on legacy AV equipment that frequently failed, lacked vendor support, and did not meet PUD 3’s evolving hybrid meeting requirements. The existing projection screens and projectors were unreliable, and audio systems provided insufficient coverage for larger groups. Attempts to source repair and support from the original equipment manufacturer proved unsuccessful, resulting in long delays and suboptimal meeting experiences.
Solutions for Every Space
The audiovisual integration solutions addressed Mason PUD3's challenges head-on with cutting-edge technology and strategic implementation specific to use case and space.
Instead of fixed lenses, Avidex provided versatile tripod-mounted cameras that offer complete flexibility in capturing meetings and presentations. Users simply connect the camera, adjust its position to achieve the desired angle, and start their session on platforms like WebEx, Teams, or any preferred video conferencing software, all with minimal setup time. This approach empowers presenters and participants to adapt quickly to various room layouts and meeting formats, ensuring clear visuals and seamless connectivity for both in-person and remote attendees.
The Outcome: A Ready-For-Anything Multifunction Space
The deployment of advanced AV solutions at Mason PUD3 fundamentally elevated the district’s conference environment.
Seamless functionality empowers staff and community members to initiate and participate in meetings intuitively, eliminating the need for specialized training. The project adhered strictly to budgetary constraints and timeline commitments, ensuring cost-effective delivery without compromise. ROI is clearly demonstrated through the system’s robust reliability and intuitive operation, achieving the intended performance benchmarks by design. Ongoing partnership is supported by the Avidex Help Desk, which maintains full warranty service and stands ready to extend support through comprehensive service agreements.
Overall, the project successfully modernized the district’s conference space.
