Polycom® RealPresence® Access Director™ Completes ICSA Labs Security Evaluation for Secure Firewall Traversal to Drive Video Collaboration Adoption
Posted on Thursday, June 27, 2013
Polycom’s firewall traversal solution passes a rigorous 35 point security evaluation from ICSA Labs

SAN JOSE, Calif - Jun 27, 2013: Polycom, Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCM), the global leader in open, standards-based unified communications and collaboration (UC&C), today announced that Polycom® RealPresence® Access Director™, a videoconferencing firewall traversal solution, has successfully met a rigorous 35 point security evaluation by ICSA Labs, an independent division of Verizon, that offers vendor-neutral testing and certification. This independent security evaluation provides added validation that high security standards in firewall traversal technology have been implemented by Polycom, providing organizations with the assurance that they can communicate with customers, partners and suppliers outside their firewall with confidence that their connection is secure.

The ICSA Labs testing methodology assessed the RealPresence Access Director solution specifically on its ability to maintain the existing security and integrity level of any network while adding SIP and H.323 videoconferencing functionality. ICSA Labs confirmed that the RealPresence Access Director solution performed to levels expected for platform security and functionality. The report also found that the RealPresence Access Director solution maintained the security level of the environment in which it was deployed without introducing vulnerabilities. The report concluded that the core functionality of the system operated properly as designed. (See the evaluation report on the ICSA Labs website.)

“This independent security evaluation by ICSA Labs demonstrates Polycom’s commitment to providing high levels of security and assurance for our customers,” said A.E. Natarajan, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Engineering, Polycom. “With Polycom firewall traversal and security solutions, workers inside or outside the organization can collaborate safely over video with customers, partners, suppliers, and remote employees, whether they are in the office or on the go. As organizations deploy video in more and more business applications, particularly on mobile devices, to keep their global workforce connected, our successful completion of this rigorous evaluation shows that they do not sacrifice their security in doing so.”
