Audience Controlled OLG Digital Signage Goes Green
Posted on Thursday, June 26, 2014
Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is proud to announce that its digital signage network, including 1,200 digital signs at all 19 OLG gaming sites and four OLG corporate offices, is bullfrogpowered with 100 per cent clean, pollution-free electricity provided by Bullfrog Power. The decision to switch to green energy expands OLG’s commitment to the environment.

Bullfrog Power will inject 1,297,032 kilowatt-hours of low impact renewable (green) electricity onto the Ontario electricity grid to match the amount of power OLG's digital signage network uses. This will reduce the emission of approximately 520 tonnes of carbon dioxide – equivalent to removing approximately 109 passenger cars from the road.

“Choosing green energy complements OLG’s ongoing commitment to reduce our environmental impact across the organization,” said Paul Pellizzari, OLG’s Executive Director of Policy and Social Responsibility. “Renewable energy is an important part of our Bet on Green efforts to become a leader in energy-efficient, environmentally lower-impact gaming.”

“Our digital signage network is already made up of EnergyStar® certified LED screens and hardware. This switch to green energy continues our efforts in utilizing low environmental impact technologies,” said Michael Tutton, OLG’s Manager of Digital Signage.
